A Spectacular Finale Closes the 2025 UIM XCAT World Championship

 

Dubai, 14 December 2025 – The Dubai GP, Grand Finale of the 2025 UIM XCAT World Championship concluded with a day of outstanding intensity, prestige and excitement, once again confirming Dubai as one of the world’s most iconic and respected venues for offshore powerboat racing.
The day began under heavy rainfall, a rare occurrence in the region, which required additional operational efforts by the event management team. Despite the challenging conditions, the professionalism and efficiency of the organization ensured that the schedule was maintained, with the weather adding an additional layer of drama and uniqueness to an already high-profile international event. The rain did not stop XCAT – it elevated the spectacle.
The final race of the season delivered thrilling action, with constant battles finally under a bright, shining sun. Although Victory Team had already secured the World Championship title prior to the start, the race remained fiercely competitive, highlighting the skill, determination and excitement that define the UIM XCAT World Championship.
Ahead of the race start, the event was honoured by a distinguished institutional visit to the wet-pit and Race Control, highlighting the strategic importance of XCAT within Dubai’s international sports calendar. The visiting dignitaries included:

  • Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Al Maktoum, Assistant Under-Secretary for Sports Development & Competitiveness at the Ministry of Sports
  • H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, Vice Chairman of Dubai Sports Council
  • H.E. Saeed Harib, Secretary General of Dubai Sports Council
  • H.E. Ahmed Saeed bin Meshar, Chairman of the DIMC Board of Directors

Their presence reaffirmed the strong commitment of UAE institutions to the development of elite motorsport and offshore racing on a global scale.

With boats charging past the shoreline at speeds exceeding 200 km/h, just meters from the spectators, the Dubai GP delivered a truly unique visual and sporting experience, captivating fans and showcasing the exceptional standards of organization, safety and competition that define XCAT.

As the curtain falls on the 2025 UIM XCAT World Championship, the season will be remembered for its sporting excellence, international appeal and the dominance of Victory Team, crowned world champions and benchmark of the discipline. Above all, the Dubai Grand Prix once again demonstrated the city’s ability to host world-class sporting events that combine innovation, spectacle and excellence.

The 2025 season concludes with Victory Team as the benchmark of offshore racing, Immediately after the start, the race was marked by a dramatic incident involving Team GB (#8) and the Norwegian Energima boat (#55). Both boats suffered significant damage and were forced to retire from the race, but fortunately there were no injuries to either crew.

As a result of this retirement, Team GB was overtaken in the overall standings by Fujairah Racing Team, the Italian crew that went on to finish the season in second place overall.

The Dubai finale highlighted the fierce competitiveness, professionalism, and international appeal of all teams in the championship, leaving fans already looking forward to the 2026 season.
